  • Bridesmaids: Kelley Egan, Angie Schroeder, Abby Lieberman

"The best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person is still going to think the sun shines out your @s$. That's the kind of person that's worth sticking with." ~Juno (borrowed from Sarah's FB status).

Tentative Date

Just to give a heads up... our tentative date is Saturday, August 28th, 2010 in Walker, MN most likely at Horseshoe Bay Resort. We have not put a deposit down yet because Tony is taking a look at it this week while he is up fishing. We also need to finish up getting some information on pricing and policies.

So mark it on your calendars... IN PENCIL!!! :)

Officiants

Do wedding officiants often travel or do weddings off-site? We would like a pastor to marry us but if we get married up north, are we most likely going to need to find a local person? Mostly what I want is someone who we can get to know or who knows us. I don't want to meet the person just once before our wedding day. I want them to know a little bit about us to make the ceremony a little more personal.

So many things to consider! I think we found the place but my mom recommended not putting down the deposit until we made sure someone would marry us there... ?

The Proposal - December 30, 2009

It was a pretty normal Wednesday working at Trailway Pond. We were excited because New Year's Eve was right around the corner; this meant that working hard was not quite on the top of our list that day ;) It had been a pretty quiet day so I wasn't too surprised when Tanya asked me to go check out some carpet in one of our vacant apartments to get my opinion on whether or not we should replace it.

However, once she told me which apartment it was, I told her that I had already seen it and had even used it to show prospective residents the layout. I kind of argued with her that the carpet seemed fine, maybe a little worn, but no stains or weird smells. But Tanya insisted that I should take another look and maybe check out the vinyl too while I was in there since it might be out of date.

So I grabbed my coat and keys and headed across the parking lot to Building One. I walked to the end of the hall where 103 was located and on the door was a small note typed on white paper. It said "Open this door and follow the trail." My first instinct was that this was a little creepy... who would put a note like that on the door of an empty apartment? I almost turned back down the hall to grab Tanya to come with me. Instead, I decided I would peek my head in before just walking in. I put my key in the lock and it didn't catch - the door was already unlocked!!! Now I was even more creeped out!

But... I reached in and flipped on the entry light and peeked my head in. There were a few random items sitting on the kitchen counter which I thought was weird... and out of the corner of my eye, something was glowing. I turned to see a path of lighted candles leading into the bedroom!!! I "followed the trail" and at the end was a heart of lighted candles... and my honey standing in the middle! I was pretty surprised!!!

He smiled and nervously recited a poem he had wrote for me (I should probably ask his permission before I post it on here). The whole time he was kinda shaky and smiley and then for the last line of the poem, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!! :) :) :)

It was very sweet and something I will cherish forever!

Photos

Any good ideas out there for photographers? Tony and I are planning on just doing a few shots for engagement photos, nothing too extravegant. We need a good one for our Save the Dates!

Ideally, we are looking for someone on the cheaper side, perhaps someone who does photography as a hobby more than have their own business. We still want a professional look - a little more than if we set the self-timer on my camera ;)

I know its kind of a lot to ask - low cost, high quality - but any references would be appreciated!

Where?

We hope to be nailing down a place and date for our wedding within the next two weeks. Pretty sure we are going with having it in Walker, MN.

Only about a month after we started dating, Tony and I went camping in the Boundary Waters and we try to get up north as often as possible (cabins, camping, roadtrips). He loves fishing, except with me because I usually outfish him! ;) Mostly because he is a great teacher! I love being on/near/in the water. Whether its fishing, canoeing, tubing, boating, swimming, etc. - it makes me happy.

We know that having a wedding up north might limit some of our friends and family from attending, but it is truly a place where we feel most like "us" and we will do our best to make it easy to travel to for our guests.
Next week, we are planning on going up there for a day or so and taking a look at five different locations: Chase on the Lake, Hiawatha Beach Resort, Horseshoe Bay Resort, Moondance Event Center, and Northern Lights Event Center.

Another "to-do" for this week is to collect addresses from all our friends and family... ack! Wish us luck! And help us out by sending yours to us via email, text, call, or word of mouth. Thanks :)

We're Engaged!

It's Official! And we are super excited!!! :)

I am working on putting together this blog to keep everyone up to date on the wedding plans and to keep a journal of our story.

Tonight, we sat down to start thinking about what kind of wedding we want, when, where, people to invite, budget, etc. After making a quick guest list of the essential family and friends... Tony seemed quite overwhelmed! We love WAY too many people ;)

Tentative ideas from tonight's talk:
1) Northern MN
2) Guest list close to 200! ack!
3) Tight budget
4) August 2010

You may fall from above,

Is when you fall in LOVE!"
