Love Like Crazy: We Heart Pizza & Beer!

For our rehearsal dinner, we decided to head to our favorite pizza joint in Walker: Benson's! We ordered a few huge pizzas, lots of beer, a few sodas, and a kid meal or two. It was a lot of fun to see our whole bridal party together and to relax after the practice run.

Planning a wedding is hard work! (Can you tell from the pic?!) But luckily everything came together beautifully - it was even better than I could have hoped for!!!

Love Like Crazy Recap:

* We spent a day or two decorating the hall.

Woessners, Heaslips, & Steins, Oh My!

For the last weekend of July, we invited Mike and Tanya to join us at the cabin with Mom and Gerry. The main event was our 18-hole golf outing to Tianna. It is a gorgeous course but it was HOT out that day! We also enjoyed some swimming, boating, bonfires, games, and the rest of the usual cabin stuff.

Jax loves riding in the car, he usually sleeps the entire way to the cabin and as the back seat all to himself. I wonder how he's gonna feel about a noisy baby taking up half the space next year?!

As we started the drive, I glanced back and saw him putting on his "cute face" aka the begging face. What was he looking at? See below!

He was trying so hard to be inconspicuous. "No Mom, I'm not beggin, I'm just resting my head here on the seat... in this awkward angle. I'm totally comfy."

Mom was a great sport! She hadn't golfed in probably ten years but she surprised us all with her mad skills!

We were STARVING after 18 holes so we headed over to Lucky Moose and had about a million appetizers. Delicious!

Love Like Crazy: Time to Practice!

Friday afternoon was when the majority of our guests started arriving at Horseshoe Bay Lodge. It was great to see everyone socializing in the courtyard, especially those that have never met and those who haven’t seen each other in years. That may have been one of my favorite aspects of a semi-destination wedding: it’s kinda like a mini-family-reunion-vacation!

Ashley makes her appearance! And our cousin Mandy is there to greet her :)

More chatting between Mom, Gerry, Jim and Ann. Also pictured are their two boys Sam and Ryan.

Gerry stops to say hello to Jim (his dad) and wife Marge. Jim passed away suddenly while on vacation with Marge is Hawaii during the Tsunami evacuation back in March. We miss him like crazy and we feel so blessed to have had him at our wedding. Hopefully he is continuing to watch from heaven as our life unfolds. Jim and Marge were so in love, such a great example!

Katie, our flower girl, is Tony’s cousin. She made fast friends with my cousin Angie. They were pretty inseparable the whole weekend!

From left to right: Deb (stepmom), me, Ash, Dad, & Kel getting ready for the rehearsal. Look at everyone milling around in the background! So fun!

Chuck (Tony’s cousin and best man) and Ashley (my middle sister and maid of honor) practice their march. It was pretty windy on Friday, we were all really hoping the wind would die down a notch for Saturday’s outdoor ceremony and champagne toast pontoon ride.

Photobucket
Again with the wind! Bob (Tony’s friend and mentor from Erik’s Bike Shop) and Angie (my cousin) all smiles!

Photobucket
Dad was trying to match his step to mine. Little did he know that during the actual walk, I would be bawling my eyes out and you wouldn’t really be able to see my feet under my dress anyway! A for effort though Dad :)

PhotobucketDad looks concerned… maybe reality was starting to hit! And I look a little freaked out too!

Photobucket
This pic about sums up the practice run. Tony was stressed because right before we came out to practice, I had been upset about how I didn’t have time to get my hair done and it wasn’t fair because I was supposed to be the beautiful bride-to-be. I’m trying to be the good girl and listen closely to Pastor Mark’s instructions. Meanwhile, Bridesmaids Abby (my friend) and Angie (my cousin) are goofing off in the background. Let’s just say we were happy to head out for pizza and beer soon after this pic!

Fishies

Goldfish. You know, those little yellow cheesy crackers shaped like fishies? Have you had them since elementary school? If not… give them a whirl again! But buyer beware! They are super yummy but addicting.

How did I get back into Goldfish? I had originally wanted to include two real goldfish per centerpiece at our wedding. Logistically, it did not work out. Plus I did not want people to be grossed out if the fish went belly up halfway through dinner. To keep with the up north “fish” type theme, we decided to have Goldfish as a snack during our cocktail hour.

Quick side note: I loved everything about our wedding. Nothing was really missed, majorly screwed up, or overly dramatic. It was more than I thought it would turn out to be (as you maybe could have seen from my constant happy tears during the ceremony that continued well into the next day opening gifts). I am soooo grateful for all of the fabulous people that helped pull everything together.

One thing that I personally kind of screwed up on was communication. I slightly blame my parents… they are not the greatest communicators and I learn from my elders, right? I had all these awesome visions and I did my part to make these things come to fruition. However… I forgot about telling key people what I envisioned. I don’t know if I assumed they knew, if I thought I already told them, or if I simply was so busy I forgot. Either way… it happened with a few things over the course of the weekend.

Back to the Goldfish. I calculated enough to fill the vases at least once and then possibly a refill or two. Yes, I asked people to fill them up for me during set up, but I forgot to communicate the role of refilling. I also forgot to communicate the fact that “a full bar” during the reception means to me: beer, wine, hard liquor the entire time (7pm-midnight)… but more on that another time.

So because I did not communicate the need to refill the vases and I also probably overestimated how much people would eat... we are left with quite the abundance of Goldfish! I put one of the large bags in my desk at work. My thinking was "better this than something from the vending machine." But maybe I was off track... these things are addicting! Especially when you have a never-ending super huge bag of them :) Oh well. Either I will get my fill and won't buy them again until I have kiddos or I will buy a much, much smaller bag once this one runs out. I'll be sure to let you know if they become a staple in my lunch bag.
